Short bio

Yannis Raftoyannis is Full Professor at the International Hellenic University in Greece.
He is teaching undergraduate modules in Forest Fires, Forest Pathology, Forest Entomology, and postgraduate modules in Urban Tree Protection, Drought and vegetation, Forest Fires.
His research interests include forest and tree protection (forest fires, diseases, pests etc.), climate change (impacts, adaptation, mitigation), landscape restoration (reforestation, burned lands, roadsides, quarries), urban forestry etc.
He has participated in 24 projects, published 30 articles in scientific journals and 54 in scientific conferences (h-index=13). 

General Research interests

His research areas are consumer behaviour and sensory science, with a main focus on the consumer. His research focuses on the exploration of new methodologies to further understanding consumer perception, in particular sensory descriptive techniques.  He also has a strong interest in multivariate data analysis (sensometrics).

Aims and activities related to the visit

The overall objective of the mobility is the exchange of expertise in the topic of forest fires between the two institutions aiming to improve the professional development of academic staff. Activities will include discussions on forest fires related topics such as fire prevention, fires in the wildland-urban interface, forest fires and climate change, postfire management etc.., meetings with fire experts and visits to sites with good practices related to forest fires.
